A Church of the Fresh Start

Caldwell Temple Soup Kitchen

Caldwell 's soup kitchen was originally a feeding ministry  launched through the dream of its Pastor Rev. Nathaniel B. Legay and his wife Gloris Legay in September 2000.  They wanted to do something to enhance the family life style of the community and our family church members

The primary concern for the community and our family members was their economical resources during dry spells between financial incomes.  Many neighbors do not qualify for specific assistance from organizations. Some only need a little boost to carry them over; others just enjoy the fellowship that's available; in other words it is geared towards all of the people.

This ministry was not designed as a restaurant take out; its setting is family style eating, like Big Mama's house or Granma's house where everyone gathers together for conversation and fun.  All the meals are prepared the old fashion way with fresh fish, chicken, meat, veggies and deserts cooked on the premises; most of all there is no charge for anything, everything is free.

We are here for the community, visitors, neighbors and friends on Saturday 11:00am until 2:00pm.  Weather conditions have never stopped this ministry.

Feeding Ministry Team would love for you, your family or friends to join us.  Remember every 2nd Saturday at 11:00am until 2:00pm.

The soup kitchen is located inside the Caldwell Temple AME Zion Church at 1288 Rev. James A. Polite Ave., near Chisholm St. To make a donation or to volunteer, contact Sandra Reyes at (347) 577-5070 or sreyesrn@yahoo.com.
